About Steve McGreevy
Assistant District Attorney Steve McGreevy has proudly served and protected the people of Orange County for more than two decades, prosecuting the most complex and serious sexual assault and homicide cases. Working with the men and women of law enforcement, fire departments, doctors, nurses, and everyday citizens, Steve has brought justice upon the most violent criminals: murderers, rapists and child molesters. Steve has tried 115 jury trials, 42 homicides and currently heads the Orange County District Attorney’s Homicide Unit.
Steve’s breadth of legal experience includes prior practice as a civil law attorney. He’s represented both sides in litigation, from aggrieved victims to business owners who have been wrongly sued.
Steve was raised by parents who instilled in him the value of hard work, public service and always doing the right thing. His dad was a doctor and Navy veteran, and his mom was a teacher, turned stay-at-home mom.
Steve and his wife Wendy (a former San Diego prosecutor and present adoption attorney), met at the University of San Diego Law School and have been married 23 years. They’re proud parents to two sons, sending them to local public schools and actively volunteering in youth sports leagues. Their oldest son, a pitcher, was recently a first round draft pick in Major League Baseball’s July 2021 Draft (St. Louis Cardinals, pick #18). Their youngest son is attending UC Santa Barbara.
Since announcing his plans to run for judge, Steve has earned early support from dozens of judges along with diverse endorsements from both prosecutors and defense attorneys who believe Steve will serve with fairness and independence.
Steve never compromises on doing what is just and right. He goes to work every day with a somber reflection on justice, ethics and objectivity when deciding to pursue prosecution and how to best represent the People, and he will continue to do so as a Superior Court Judge.
